Scope
This policy applies to www.freetins.com and explains the limited information handled when a reader visits the site or emails the editorial desk. The site can be read without creating an account.
Information handled
| Data | Why it is used | Where it is handled |
|---|---|---|
| Consent preference | Remember optional cookie choices for up to 180 days | A first-party ft_consent cookie in your browser |
| Service-notice dismissal | Hide a dismissed service notice for the current tab session | Browser session storage |
| Network and security data | Deliver pages, prevent abuse and troubleshoot requests | Cloudflare and ordinary hosting logs |
| Page view, referrer, page timing | Count how many people reach each page and how fast it loaded | Cloudflare Web Analytics — no cookie, no cross-site identifier, no visitor profile |
| Email correspondence | Reply to corrections, questions or notices | The Freetins email service |
Reader reports on codes
Where reader reports are switched on, code rows include a thumbs up and thumbs down so readers can say whether a code worked. Where they are switched off, which is how the site is configured today, no report control appears on any page. Submitting a report sends only the code identifier and the verdict.
Your IP address is not stored. To stop one person reporting the same code repeatedly, the address is combined with a server-side secret and a value that rotates daily, then hashed one way; the record that is kept holds the day, the code identifier, the verdict and that hash, and it expires on its own. The original address cannot be recovered from it, and it cannot be used to follow a reader between codes beyond the rotation window.
One report is stored per reader, per code, per day, and no count of them is displayed on the site. They are read to prioritise which codes an editor re-checks and are never used to build a profile of a visitor.
Service providers
Cloudflare delivers and secures the site and may process IP addresses, request metadata and security signals under its privacy policy. Cloudflare Web Analytics, described above, is part of the same relationship and processes page requests to produce aggregate traffic counts.
Google AdSense is named in the consent panel and, once you allow advertising, receives ad requests and processes them under its own privacy policy. If an alert or affiliate service is activated later, or if measurement is ever changed to a vendor that identifies visitors, this policy and the consent configuration must be updated before data is sent to it.
Email and retention
Messages sent to support@freetins.com are used to answer the request, maintain a correction record or process a legal notice. They are retained only as long as reasonably needed for that purpose, security, dispute handling or applicable legal obligations. Do not include passwords, payment details or unnecessary sensitive information.
