The Sims 4 cheats for money, skills and careers

Press Ctrl + Shift + C, type testingcheats true, press Enter. Then motherlode gives you 50,000 Simoleons, kaching or rosebud gives 1,000 each, and money 1000000 sets your household funds to exactly that number. Every other cheat on this page needs testingcheats on first.

The three money cheats and the build cheats work without testingcheats. Everything involving skills, careers, needs, relationships and shift-clicking does not.

Sims 4 money cheats

Type these in Live Mode with the cheat console open. Repeat them as many times as you like.

Note on freerealestate: it only works from the world map or lot selection screen while you are moving a household in. Typing it during normal Live Mode does nothing, which is a common reason players report it as broken.

money is a set, not an add. money 0 will empty your household.

How to open the cheat console on PC, Mac, PS5 and Xbox

The console is the text bar that appears at the top of the screen. Cheats typed anywhere else, including the build mode search box, will not fire.

PC (Windows)

1. Load into a household in Live Mode.
2. Press Ctrl + Shift + C together.
3. The cheat bar appears at the top of the screen.
4. Type testingcheats true and press Enter.
5. Type your cheat and press Enter.
6. Press Ctrl + Shift + C again, or Esc, to close the bar.

Mac

1. Load into Live Mode.
2. Press Command + Shift + C. On some keyboards Ctrl + Shift + C also works.
3. If neither fires, hold fn as well: fn + Command + Shift + C.
4. Type testingcheats true, press Enter, then enter your cheat.

PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4

1. Load into Live Mode.
2. Hold L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 at the same time. All four shoulder buttons, held for about a second.
3. The cheat bar opens with an on-screen keyboard.
4. Type testingcheats true and confirm.
5. Enter your cheat and confirm again.

A USB or Bluetooth keyboard plugged into a PS5 also responds to Ctrl + Shift + C.

Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One

1. Load into Live Mode.
2. Hold LB + RB + LT + RT at the same time.
3. The cheat bar opens with an on-screen keyboard.
4. Type testingcheats true, confirm, then enter your cheat.

A USB keyboard on Xbox also responds to Ctrl + Shift + C.

On both consoles, enabling testingcheats pops a warning that achievements and trophies will be turned off. That warning is real. See the achievements section below.

Skill cheats fail silently if you do not own the pack. If nothing happens and you own the pack, check the spelling first, then reload the save.

To wipe a skill instead of maxing it, set the level to 1 and then use stats.set_skill_level [Skill_ID] 0.

Sims 4 career cheats and promotion cheats

Three commands cover everything:

• careers.promote [career_id] moves your Sim up one level
• careers.demote [career_id] moves them down one level
• careers.add_career [career_id] puts them in the job instantly
• careers.remove_career [career_id] takes them out of it

Run careers.promote repeatedly to jump straight to the top of a track. Requires testingcheats true.

School grades use the same commands: careers.promote gradeschool and careers.promote highschool push a child or teen up a grade. careers.demote drops them.

Some career tracks branch. Promoting past the branch point puts your Sim on whichever branch the game picks, so if you want a specific branch, promote manually up to the fork and choose it in-game.

Romance will not stick at 100 if the two Sims have never met. Run the friendship line first, then the romance line.

These are the cheats worth memorising. Most do not need testingcheats, which also makes them the safest ones for achievements.

bb.moveobjects has no on or off word. Typing it toggles it. Type it again to turn it back off.

If your build looks fine but Sims cannot route to a bed or a toilet, that is nearly always bb.moveobjects placing an item somewhere the pathfinding cannot reach. Turn it off and nudge the object back onto the grid.

How to use cas.fulleditmode properly, because typing it alone does nothing visible:

1. Open the console, type testingcheats true, press Enter.
2. Type cas.fulleditmode, press Enter.
3. Hold Shift and click the Sim you want to edit.
4. Choose Modify in CAS.
5. Everything is now unlocked, including traits and age.

The cheat resets when you exit CAS. Re-enter it each time.

UI Cheats Extension is a script mod by weerbesu, not a built-in cheat. It lets you click money and need bars directly instead of typing. The current build is v1.57 and it is patched for game version 1.126. Script mods need Game Options > Other > Enable Custom Content and Mods plus Script Mods Allowed ticked, and both boxes get switched off by most major patches.

To bring a ghost back permanently, shift-click their urn or headstone and choose Add to Family, then remove the ghost trait.

Fairies from Enchanted by Nature have no working trait cheat to convert an existing Sim. You have to make them in Create-a-Sim. Their rank does have a cheat: stats.set_stat rankedStatistic_FairyOccult_FairyXP 4500 sets the top Radiant rank.

Do Sims 4 cheats disable achievements in 2026?

Yes, but only cheats that require testingcheats, and only in the save file you used them in. EA’s own cheats FAQ states that the codes needing testingcheats true are the ones that disable achievements in your current game save, and that other saves are unaffected.

That means:

• motherlode, kaching, rosebud, freerealestate and bb.moveobjects are achievement-safe. EA has specifically named bb.moveobjects and bb.showliveeditobjects as safe.
• testingcheats true and anything downstream of it (skills, careers, needs, relationships, cas.fulleditmode) switches achievements off for that save.
• Start a new save and achievements are live again.

One thing to be careful about: some long-standing forum answers claim achievements are only disabled on consoles and that PC and Mac players keep theirs. EA’s guidance and platform behavior are not described consistently in the reviewed references. If achievements matter to you, keep a separate uncheated save and accept the warning shown by your platform.

Why is my Sims 4 cheat not working?

In the order these actually happen:

1. You skipped testingcheats. Roughly every skill, career, needs and shift-click cheat needs testingcheats true typed first, in that session. It does not persist through a game restart. Retype it every time you load.

2. Shift-click does nothing. Same cause. Shift-click menus only appear after testingcheats is on. On a Mac laptop, use the left Shift key, and if you are on a trackpad use two-finger click while holding Shift.

3. The console will not open on PC. Something else has claimed Ctrl + Shift + C. The usual culprits are Gyazo, ShareX, AMD ReLive and other screenshot or capture overlays. Close them, or rebind their hotkey. Alternatives that work: Ctrl + Shift + Windows key + C. Also make sure the game window is actually focused if you play windowed, and that your cursor is not sitting in the Build Mode search box.

4. Still will not open. Close the game, go to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\, move Options.ini to your desktop, and relaunch. The game rebuilds it. You will lose your graphics settings, not your saves.

5. Cheats stopped working right after a patch. Patch 1.126 landed on 21 July 2026 and, as every major patch does, it switched off Script Mods Allowed. Script mods such as MC Command Center and UI Cheats Extension will be inactive and out-of-date ones can block the console entirely. Go to Game Options > Other, retick both mod boxes, restart, and update or remove any mod that has not been patched for 1.126.

6. The cheat runs but nothing happens. You do not own the pack that skill or career belongs to, or the ID has a typo. IDs are not case sensitive but they are spelling sensitive. Major_Cooking does nothing. Major_HomestyleCooking works.

7. freerealestate says nothing. It only works from the world map or the lot picker while moving a household in, not from Live Mode.

8. You typed it in the wrong box. In Build and Buy Mode the search field looks similar to the cheat bar and truncates long input. Switch to Live Mode, open the console with the key combo, and check the bar is at the top of the screen.

What is the cheat to max all skills in Sims 4?

There is no single command that maxes everything. You run stats.set_skill_level [Skill_ID] 10 once per skill after enabling testingcheats true. Paste them one after another in the console, pressing Enter each time. For example, stats.set_skill_level Major_Charisma 10 then stats.set_skill_level Major_Logic 10. Toddler skills cap at 5 and potty caps at 3.

How do I get a promotion cheat in Sims 4?

Enable testingcheats true, then type careers.promote followed by the career ID, such as careers.promote Astronaut. Each entry moves your Sim up one level, so run it repeatedly to reach the top. careers.demote reverses it. For school, use careers.promote gradeschool for children or careers.promote highschool for teens.

Why is cas.fulleditmode not working?

Typing the cheat alone shows no visible change, which is what most people mistake for failure. You need testingcheats true first, then cas.fulleditmode, then hold Shift and click the Sim and pick Modify in CAS. It also has to be entered in Live Mode, not Build Mode, and it resets every time you leave CAS. Out-of-date script mods such as older MCCC builds can block it.

How do you unlock all items in Sims 4 build mode?

Nearly every PC cheat works identically, including motherlode, skill cheats and career cheats. The exception is anything relying on a mod, since consoles do not support custom content or script mods.

Does the money cheat have a limit?

motherlode can be repeated without limit. The money command sets an exact figure and very large numbers can display oddly in the UI, so if you want a huge balance, stack motherlode instead of typing a nine-digit number. Household funds are per household, so moving a Sim out splits the money by the game’s own rules, not by what you cheated in.

Do I need to retype testingcheats every time?

Yes. testingcheats true lasts for the current play session only. Quitting to the main menu or closing the game clears it. Loading a different save also clears it. Retype it after every load before you use any skill, career, needs or shift-click cheat.
